Abstract: The issue discussed in the paper is a response to the requirements of the business entities operating in the field of sustainable tourism in the current crisis period, period of existence for a number of the enterprises. Data collection took place in 603 municipalities in 17 LAGs in the region of South Bohemia. In total, 29 indicators are used to evaluate and find potential in the region of South Bohemia. The stepwise backward analysis method in the ANOVA program is used for the analysis. The existence of strong links between the indicators is proved; the results further show the effect of all the tested parameters on the potential of tourism. The positive influence of tourism potential is proved for the following variables: Unemployment trend; Accessibility of the area by the public transport on weekdays; Accessibility of the area by A and major roads; Primary school facilities; Accessibility of senior care homes; and Share of water areas. The negative influence is proved for The natives; Availability of hospitals and outpatient facilities; Production capacity of the land resources; Trend of arable land; and Landscape fragmentation. The results, their form and content indicate the possibility of their use in spatial and strategic planning and financing of rural areas and the settlements operating in them. The validity and relevance of the results indicates the suitability of the analysis and prediction of the economic regional potential for the development of tourism in the rural areas.
