Abstract: The exploring of regional disparities is at the center of researchers’ interest in relation to socio-economic changes and globalization processes. The paper is focused on evaluation of regional disparities among eight Slovak regions with the focus on economic indicators. The evaluated indicators will be: employment rate, unemployment rate, long-term unemployment rate, average nominal monthly wage, net money income, labor productivity, gross fixed capital formation on GDP, foreign direct investment per capita, the R&D expenditure per capita, road network density (motorways and expressways), regional gross domestic product per capita. The study was realized by creation of Composite indicator (CI) and Gini Index (GI) calculation and provide framework for regional development assessment. The results of our study could contribute to the more effective implementation of regional policy instruments.
