Abstract: The aim of this paper is to evaluate the development potential of the regions of the Czech Republic. The evaluation of regional development is based on the assessment of regional disparities through the application of development potential indexes. These indexes are used for analysing the environmental and social and cultural conditions in the regions of the Czech Republic, as well as for ranking the regions in terms of quality of life. For the calculation of the development potential indexes, multivariate analysis-factor analysis methods were applied to identify the variables that have the strongest influence on a region´s overall evaluation.
